Today* is Imbolc, a Pagan holiday associated with the first stirrings of spring, and with the ancient Irish goddess Brigit. I made Brigit's Cross out of some dead pampas grass I gathered from my friend's lawn.
Upon coming home and watching a YouTube video of an Irish lady making one, I realized that you are supposed to use *fresh* rushes, not dead ones, and they slowly turn brown over time after being made into the correct shape. This is why my cross looks kind of gimpy and sad - dead grass tends to crack when you bend it. D'oh. Well, here is the Thing for Day One.
* some calendars list it on 2/1, some on 2/2.
